What is rest?
Did you know that rest from a day's labour and the rest that God says can be found in Him are very different things?
The Hebrew word for rest is nuach - to rest, to be quiet. Sometimes, it is synonymous to shabat - to cease or to rest.
The Greek word for rest is anapausis meaning cessation, refreshment. Christ's rest is not a rest from work, but in work, not the rest of activity, but of the harmonious working of all the faculties and affections, of will, heart, imagination, conscience - because each has found in God the ideal sphere of its satisfaction and development. (Vines Dictionary)
And so, when we are deliberate with our time, our energy and our rhythms, we start to enter into this 'rest' that God promised us in Hebrews 3 & 4. And one thing we can always count on is that God keeps all His promises.

There is something so refreshing about stepping out of your 'daily life' and being deliberate about taking time for God and self in the setting of nature. I believe God is inviting us into these counter-cultural rhythms, not just to know Him better but for our health and well-being.

I live in Melbourne with my Hubby and kids. I love Jesus, markets, op shops, art, beach days, holidays, great food and a shared table.
For many years, I've wanted to create a space for ministry workers to rest and recoup away from it all. The scope has widened as I've aged and I see a special need for women too, especially caregivers.
I love a good retreat - it feeds me in so many ways, it makes me a better friend, mother, wife and Christian.
